1. Leadership
Intramurals Captain
In addition to my role as an Intramural Sports Coordinator for the University of the Fraser Valley’s (UFV) Campus Recreation & Wellness department, I have captained six intramural teams and will continue to do so, between futsal (indoor soccer) and volleyball. As the captain of the team, I am responsible for creating a positive team environment that is bound together by a common goal and friendship. I believe I am a strong leader in this role because I create a positive environment, I enforce boundaries when necessary, and I lead by example.

Kin Games Captain
Kin Games is an annual national conference in which over 400 kinesiology students, from 20-30 different schools, compete in four categories: academics, athletics, dance, and spirit (Kinesiology Games, n.d.). I have just completed my 3rd year with the UFV team and will be leading next year as captain for the 2nd time in a row. Leading the team requires high levels of commitment, organization, communication, and initiative. One of the key areas of leadership I have developed through Kin Games is conflict resolution. When leading a team made up of people with different values and interests, issues will arise. This aspect of leadership requires patience, empathy, and strong communication. I also had the role of dance choreographer this past year. Planning and teaching the dance required patience, encouragement, and considerable work behind the scenes. These too are important attributes of a good leader.

2. Communication
KINSA Events Coordinator
The Kinesiology Student Association (KINSA) is an student-run organization that provides educational resources and fun events to increase opportunities and engagement for students at UFV. I ran for and was elected events coordinator in the fall of 2022. Together, with the rest of the executive team, we have planned and executed numerous events and provided informative seminars and resources for students. Being a part of KINSA has helped develop my communication skills through the demands of the position. Professional and timely communication is needed when planning events with the executive team, collaborating with other organizations, inquiring about potential facilities and bookings, applying for funding, and promoting events to the UFV community.FV community.

CUTCO Sales Representative/Assistant Manager
I began with Vector Marketing in April of 2022 and have quickly advanced personally and professionally. As an independent sales representative, I am responsible for contacting clients over the phone and presenting the product in person, CUTCO cutlery. I have learned that sales is all about rapport, which comes achieved through effective and genuine communication. As an assistant manager, I am responsible for interviewing applicants and coaching newer representatives individually and through group presentations. This position has been an excellent resource to develop my ability to communicate well with clients, fellow representatives, and senior managers.
Accolades:
- $45,000+ in personal sales
- x3 scholarship winner
- Summer Sales Conference 2022: 2nd Place

3. Organization
UFV CEP Disc Golf Course Proposal
In the fall of 2022, my friend, Justin Plett, and I had the idea to build a disc golf course on the UFV Chilliwack Education Park (CEP) campus. We began planning the layout and contacted the appropriate individuals to start the proposal process. Over the following five months, Justin and I met with faculty deans, directors, department head, the Student Union Society president and vice president, and course planners, local suppliers, and the City of Chilliwack. Everyone loved the project and the proposal we had been working on. Together, we accumulated $10,000 in funding and documented support from several important individuals and organizations. Organization was a vital component of this entire process. This includes hosting a pilot event of the course with the Chilliwack Disc Golf Club (pictured on the left), setting up countless meetings, and creating our proposal. The official proposal (linked below) documents the course layout and information, connections to UFV’s goals and values, a detailed budget, funding, and written support. This project required tremendous effort, but would have not been possible without proficient organizational skills. Currently, the proposal is being processed by the university’s planning committee and we are optimistic about the possibility of constructing it before the fall 2023 semester.
4. Work Capacity
Academics
Despite my very busy schedule, I have learned to optimize and manage my time and efforts so that I can do as much as possible without sacrificing quality in my work. In addition to working two part-time jobs, captaining Kin Games and multiple intramural teams, volunteering as a KINSA executive, playing competitive soccer, and leading other projects such as the UFV CEP Disc Golf Proposal, I am an exceptional student. I am a straight A’s student with a cumulative GPA of 4.18. Furthermore, I have been on the Dean’s List consecutively four times and have received seven scholarships. I believe I can do all this because I have an innate drive for excellence and the desire to positively contribute to my environment, which is matched with an ability to manage my schedule and energy. This is an ability I continue to develop by pushing myself out of my comfort zone and being an attentive learner. On the left, is the UFV Academic Scholarship – Faculty of Health Sciences (48 credits), which I won after my second year in the Bachelor of Kinesiology program (Webb, 2022). Work capacity plays a big role in my life and enables to perform well in multiple endeavors simultaneously.
Accolades:
- 4.18 GPA
- x4 Dean’s List
- x7 scholarships
